Emily Hates It, I Buy It

I’ve come up with a great new way to settle on an outfit. If my 12-year-old cousin doesn’t like my outfit, then it’s a keeper. I think she struggles with the idea that I don’t dress like a Disney sitcom star or Katniss. I actually love bringing her shopping with me to get her opinion. If I pull something off a rack or try something on, and she laughs out loud or gags, then I’ll be buying it.

Things she has made fun of recently: gold BCBG harem pants, a printed maxi skirt, and an oversized turquoise necklace paired with red shorts that "didn't match."

The "ugly old lady" skirt.

I'm considering starting a feature entitled "Looks Emily Hates." It will basically feature anything from Anthropologie or pieces Mary-Kate and Ashley might wear.
